Our History

It all started with a great idea, and a passion for coffee. In the summer of 2009, Megan Young, Spencer Young, and Ed Millere (pictured from left to right) began working on a vision to create a coffee shop like Thomasville had never seen before. Once the perfect location was found in Thomasville's thriving downtown, they got busy. Plans were drawn, architects, contractors, plumbers and electricians were hired. To do lists grew longer and an opening date was set: November 6, 2009.
It all started with an empty building at 123 South Broad Street:

To do's were checked off and slowly Grassroots started to take shape:

And recipes were created, tested and perfected:

The awesome Grassroots crew was trained:

Finally, it was time for the paper to come down!

And, after much anticipation, Grassroots Coffee Company opened her doors on November 6, 2009.
With the goal of bringing Thomasville, Georgia coffee like no one had experienced before, we hit the ground running and haven’t stopped since.
At Grassroots, it is important to us to bring you, the customer, the freshest, most delicious cup of coffee each time you order. We roast each of our single- origin coffees in house, which means we can control the flavor profiles of each coffee. It’s a difference you can taste. We are committed to using local ingredients as much as possible to bring you a drink that not only tastes delicious, but that also impacts other local business owners in a positive way.
